Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information RemoteEngine collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We aim to keep this plain-English; if anything is unclear, write to us at privacy@remoteengine.co.

1. Who We Are

RemoteEngine Technologies (P) Limited ("RemoteEngine", "we", "us") operates the website at remoteengine.co and the related hiring, payroll, and EOR services. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information you give us

  • Account details — name, work email, company, phone number.
  • Hiring-brief details — role, stack, country, budget, and similar information you provide when requesting talent.
  • Billing details — company billing address, tax IDs, and payment instrument data (handled through our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers).
  • Worker data, when you ask us to engage workers on your behalf — names, contact details, government IDs, bank details, and other information required to administer payroll, benefits, and compliance.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — pages viewed, actions taken in the platform, IP address, browser type, device identifiers.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see section 7 below.

3. How We Use Your Information

We process personal data to:

  • Provide and improve the platform and our services.
  • Authenticate users and protect accounts from abuse.
  • Match hiring briefs with suitable talent.
  • Administer payroll, benefits, taxes, and statutory compliance for engaged workers.
  • Send service notifications, support communications, and (where permitted) marketing emails you can unsubscribe from at any time.
  • Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, security incidents, or illegal activity.
  • Comply with our legal, regulatory, and audit obligations.

4. Legal Bases

Where GDPR or equivalent local law applies, our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract with you, our legitimate interests in running and improving the platform, your consent (for example, for non-essential cookies), and compliance with legal obligations.

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with:

  • Service providers — payment processors, cloud-hosting providers, analytics tools, support tools — under written data-processing agreements.
  • Local employment partners — where we cannot directly employ a worker in a given country, our authorised local partner of record processes the limited data required to act as the legal employer.
  • Authorities — when required by a valid legal request or to defend RemoteEngine's rights.
  • Successors — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to equivalent privacy commitments.

6. International Transfers

We operate globally, which means personal data may be processed in countries outside your home jurisdiction. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions, or equivalent safeguards to transfer data internationally.

7. Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies to make the platform work (for example, to keep you signed in) and analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. You can disable non-essential cookies through your browser or our consent banner. Doing so will not break essential functionality.

8. Data Retention

We keep personal data for as long as you have an active account and afterwards for as long as we need it to (a) meet legal, tax, or accounting requirements, (b) defend against legal claims, or (c) resolve disputes. Worker payroll and tax records are typically retained for seven years after the engagement ends.

9. Security

We apply administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal data — encryption at rest and in transit, role-based access controls, audit logging, regular penetration testing, and an ISMS aligned with ISO 27001 and SOC 2. No system is impenetrable; if a breach affects you, we will notify you in line with applicable law.

10. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing or withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@remoteengine.co. We will respond within the timeframes required by your local law.

11. Children

RemoteEngine is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves or to reflect legal changes. Material updates will be notified by email or an in-platform banner. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the latest revision.

13. Contact

To exercise your rights, raise a concern, or ask anything about how we handle your data, write to privacy@remoteengine.co or post a letter to our registered office.
